About
At most family gatherings, my family ends up diving into long, tangled conversations about who's who and how everyone's related how. With how big our family is, it usually falls to me to piece it all together. I rely on memory, half-remembered stories, and the occasional scribbled diagram passed around the table. Despite everyone's best efforts, it almost always ends in confusion, followed by someone saying, "We really need a tree or chart for this."
After hearing that same line year after year, I finally decided to put something together. What started as a rough sketch of names and lines quickly turned into a more complicated puzzle. The deeper I went, the more I realized that organizing it all wasn't just a matter of remembering. It needed a system. Something that could handle generations, remarriages, nicknames, missing details, and all the usual family quirks without turning into a mess of arrows and sticky notes.
That's what led to this site. Built from that ongoing need, it's meant to make tracking family relationships easier. Not just for me, but for anyone else who's ever sat through those conversations and wished they had something to point to. This tool is designed to be straightforward, flexible, and practical. Whether you're mapping out immediate relatives or distant cousins twice removed, it should make the process clearer and more manageable.
Hopefully, with a bit of help from this site, those familiar family debates will turn into moments of connection. Fewer confused glances. More "Ohh, now I get it" nods. Maybe even a new tradition of looking back to understand how we all came together. It will of course take one of whatever family to create the tree.
Notice: This site is a work in progress. In the future, an account system will be able to save and manage family trees, making it easier to keep track of your family's unique connections, along with the ability to add to it.
